Fatal Scandal (Fatal 8) by Marie Force ~ Review

Title: Fatal Scandal
Author: Marie Force
Series: Fatal #8
Release Date: January 13, 2015
Publisher: Carina Press

As a new year dawns in the capital city, dual scandals rock the Metropolitan Police Department—and Lieutenant Sam Holland is right in the middle of them. Chief Farnsworth is catching heat for the way he handled a recent homicide investigation, and Detective Gonzales is accused of failing to disclose an earlier connection to the judge who decided his custody hearing.

When Gonzo's fight for his child turns deadly and he has a shaky alibi, Sam must defend two of her closest colleagues. All while her husband, Vice President Nick Cappuano, settles into his new office at the White House.

Nick begins to wonder if the president is using him for a political boost, and his worries mount over a complication in the plans to adopt Scotty at a time when Sam is being put through the wringer by the always-rabid DC press corps. As the evidence against Gonzo piles up, Sam suspects someone is gunning for her—and her team.

I’ve read and LOVED this series starting with book 1, Fatal Affair. The momentum still goes strong with book 8, Fatal Scandal!

Sam Holland is the tough, smart-mouthed head lieutenant of the Metro Police Department’s Homicide Division by day. Off-duty she’s a loving daughter and sister, a new mom, and completely head-over-heels in love with her husband, Nick Cappuano, who happens to be the new Vice President of the United States. Just when I think their journey together as a couple couldn’t get any wilder, Marie Force proves me wrong.

“She loved when he looked at her the way he was now, as if the sun, the moon and the stars rose and set with her.”

Fatal Scandal tests the wit and patience of Sam’s team as two big scandals rock the department. As the team scramble to prove the innocence of one of their own, Sam and Nick must now also handle the wider media frenzy surrounding them, and they’ve got Secret Service now in their lives as well…oh my! Sam and Nick is one of my favorite couples to read about. I adore how Ms. Force writes them. They communicate, they support each other, they love hard, and, yet, they are not perfect.

I love how in the Fatal series, you get updates on the secondary characters in each book. Shelby knows what she wants and knows she deserves anything but the best. I like her tenacity. Gonzo’s storyline kept me on the edge. Freddie…wow! He’s Sam’s clean-mouthed partner, but he has so much to curse about in this installment, LOL! Then there’s Scotty, the sweet boy in the center of Sam and Nick’s lives. He totally made me cry!

“Sometimes I still can’t believe I get to have this—you—every day for the rest of my life.”

I loved, loved, loved Fatal Scandal! If you’re a series fan, you certainly can’t miss this installment. I read somewhere that Marie Force will keep writing this series as long as fans want to more. Well, this fan wants MORE!!!
