#FitReaders January 9, 2015 Check-In

#FitReaders is hosted by Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and That's What I'm Talking About

Today is my first check-in for 2015 with #FitReaders. I've always been a walker and over the years I've tried to maintain exercising for 30 minutes 3x/week. A little over a year ago I decided to challenge myself to do a little more. I began doing more intense cardio and strength training workouts, walked and hiked more, and incorporated running into my weekly exercise regimen. Last year I did both a 5K and a 9K and want to up the ante this year! I'm now trying to maintain 1 hour high intensity workouts (cardio/strength training, tabata, kettlebell), 1 1/2 hour runs, and, of course, walking spread out over 4-5 days a week. It's not easy, but rain or shine my motto is "No excuses!" Even on my rest days I'm not really resting as I can get at least 30 minutes walking even at a slow pace. Every step counts!

So my goal this year is to maintain my current regimen to stay fit, keep eating healthy and to run more. I want to do a least one race this year. :)

Since I did my 9K last fall, I've been doing lots of indoor workouts and not really running as much as I liked. It was hard to get in workouts over the holidays, and this week my usual schedule is going back to normal. I actually got in a good run! Yay!

What I did this week
Tuesday: 40 min kettlebell
Wednesday: 5.5 mile run/walk
Thursday: Rest Day, 34 min casual walk
Friday: 60 min tabata

Audiobook listened to: Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon

Do you workout? How did you do this week?
